Service Manager Becomes Counsellor: A Celebration of Professional Growth

Long-serving team member fulfils counselling ambition whilst remaining part of The Listening Centre family.

The Listening Centre is proud to announce the professional transition of Jo, our dedicated Service Manager of nine years, as she fulfils her lifelong ambition to become a qualified counsellor in private practice.

Jo’s remarkable journey began when she enrolled as the first student at Adept Central, our counselling training college in Lichfield, Staffordshire, in 2017. Balancing her Service Manager responsibilities with evening training classes, Jo exemplified the dedication and commitment to personal growth that defines The Listening Centre culture.

“Watching Jo develop from Service Manager to qualified counsellor has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” said Sharon, Founder and Director of The Listening Centre. “The professional boundaries we maintained throughout this dual relationship – tutor and employee – were genuinely one of our greatest challenges and proudest achievements.”

When Jo qualified in September 2024 alongside her cohort of graduates, it marked not an ending, but a beautiful evolution of her relationship with The Listening Centre. Rather than leaving entirely, Jo will be joining our award-winning team of affiliate counsellors, bringing her deep understanding of our person-centred, trauma-informed approach to direct client work.

Jo will complete her Service Manager role at the end of August 2025. Louise, who has been working alongside Jo for the past year, will seamlessly step into the Service Manager position. Louise brings extensive professional experience, warmth, and thoughtfulness to the role, ensuring continued excellence in client service.

This transition perfectly encapsulates The Listening Centre’s commitment to nurturing professional growth and supporting team members in achieving their aspirations. It reflects our belief that investing in people’s development creates positive ripples throughout our entire community.
